I feel fortunate to have learned the fundamentals of the Northwest Coast Indian art style from Nan McNutt and Bill Holm. My uncle, Chief Charles Larsen, has worked in this style as well.

I have experimented with many art traditions, from European portraiture to Ukrainian eggs and Bobo/Bwa style masks. But I feel the style of the NW Coast Indians is the most subtle and the most challenging. I have learned much about composition, balance, energy, harmony, and meaning from these native American art traditions. Thank you Nan & Bill!
